The story begins in 1989, when Edgar Weber, at just 22 years old, founded a staffing agency. In 2015, he recognized the growing need for flexible employment models for freelancers. In 2019, he realized that traditional payroll software is often only usable by HR specialists—and is simply too complicated for many small businesses with up to 10 employees.
As a result, most of the more than 550,000 SMEs in Switzerland rely on accounting firms to handle their payroll processing. There was a lack of a simple, efficient, and cost-effective solution. With a clear mission in mind, Edgar Weber developed innovative employment and payroll solutions—specifically for freelancers and SMEs. The result: Switzerland’s first truly user-friendly payroll platform.

1989: Founding of Fair-Play Personnel Consulting
Edgar Weber founded Fair-Play Personnel Consulting and enjoyed great success in the staffing industry for 25 years.
2015: Founding of payroll+ AG
As an expert in the staffing market, Edgar Weber realized that the world of work was about to change. There was a need for flexible work models that provided social security for freelancers, contractors, and consultants.
The traditional staffing agency is evolving into a PayrollTech company.
2015–2017: Development of an online tool for freelancers
In addition to traditional staffing services, new and flexible employment models for freelancers had to be developed.
2018: First online tool for freelancers in Switzerland
The first—and, to date, only—online tool for freelancers in Switzerland.
2019–2022: Development of the first online tool for SMEs and startups
Edgar Weber realized that more than 550,000 SMEs and startups in Switzerland spend valuable time and resources on payroll administration each year. Because existing payroll software was too complicated, many companies ended up outsourcing their payroll processing to accounting firms.
To provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups with a simple, efficient, and fully integrated solution, the first user-friendly online tool for SMEs and startups was developed.
2022: First online tool for SMEs and startups
The launch of our online tool has ushered in a new era of payroll processing. Thanks to our payroll package, SMEs and startups no longer need their own payroll accounting department. Insurance (UVG, KTG, BVG), payroll processing, payroll disbursement, AHV payments, and even liability to the AHV—it’s all included.
